Privacy Statement for MyGradeLayer
This Privacy Policy describes how MemberVerdict LLC, doing business as MyGradeLayer ("MyGradeLayer", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit MyGradeLayer.com and its related sites and apps (the "Site"). MyGradeLayer lets workers anonymously grade and review their managers and business leaders, share interview experiences, and browse company pages, leader profiles and job listings.
Personal information we collect
Information you give us:
- Account information: your name, nickname, e-mail address, phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash), and the company, job title, photo and other profile details you choose to add. If you pay for a feature, your billing name and address.
- Job applications: when you apply for a job on MyGradeLayer, the details you enter (for example contact details, address, work eligibility and sponsorship, cover letter and resume) and, only if you choose to answer, voluntary self-identification questions (gender, race or ethnicity, disability, veteran status, date of birth). Your application is shared with the employer you apply to.
- Content you post: reviews, grades, interview experiences, posts, comments, messages, and files you upload (for example photos, videos or a resume you attach to a job application).
- Requests you send us: profile removal or report requests, privacy requests, and anything you write to us by e-mail.
Information collected automatically:
- Server logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the date and time of each request.
- Activity on MyGradeLayer while you are signed in: for example when you view a member profile or an ad, we record the view together with your name, job title, company, industry, the time, your IP address, an approximate location worked out from it (city, region, postal code, country and estimated coordinates), and your browser, operating system and device type.
Information about business leaders and employees from public sources:
- MyGradeLayer shows profiles of business leaders and other employees. We compile them from public sources: SEC filings, companies' own websites, and publicly visible professional profiles found through search engines (including LinkedIn). A profile may include the person's name, title, company and a publicly available photo. You can ask us to remove such a profile - see Removing or reporting a profile below.
Payment information: when you pay for a MyGradeLayer feature, your card details are entered into and processed by our payment processor. MyGradeLayer does not receive or store your full card number.
How we use your personal information
- To run the Site: create and secure your account, publish your content, and show you profiles, reviews, company pages and jobs.
- To show members, profile owners and advertisers who viewed their profile or ad and statistics about those views. When you view a member's profile or interact with an ad while signed in, that member or advertiser can see your name, photo, job title and company, as well as totals by company, industry, job title and location.
- To process payments and send receipts, account e-mails and the notifications you have chosen to receive.
- To keep MyGradeLayer safe: prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and fix problems.
- To answer your requests and to comply with the law.
Anonymous reviews
Reviews, grades and interview experiences are posted anonymously unless you choose to post under your name. New reviews are published in a daily batch, and e-mail addresses, phone numbers, links and social handles in them are removed automatically. Even when you post anonymously we keep the link between your account and what you wrote, so that we can stop abuse, handle reports and comply with valid legal requests. Do not put details in a review that would identify you if you want to stay anonymous.
Cookies
MyGradeLayer uses only essential cookies: the cookies that keep you signed in and keep your session secure (including protection against forged form submissions). We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics or tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme choice is saved in your own browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
Some pages load files or features from other companies, and those companies receive your IP address and may set their own cookies under their own policies: for example on payment and seller pages (including fraud-prevention cookies), address fields on job forms, share buttons, and the common scripts and fonts every page uses.
Sharing your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising on other sites.
We share personal information only:
- With service providers that run parts of MyGradeLayer for us (for example payments, e-mail delivery, phone verification, security and hosting), who may use it only to provide their service to us.
- As you choose: what you publish (your public profile, posts and anonymous reviews) is visible to other visitors.
- With employers you apply to: your job application and resume.
- With members and advertisers whose profile or ad you view while signed in: your name, photo, job title and company, as described above.
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights and the safety of others.
- As part of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, under this Privacy Policy.
Advertising
MyGradeLayer shows ads, including ads that businesses buy on MyGradeLayer and affiliate banners from the Awin network (the banner is served from MyGradeLayer; Awin only sees you if you click it). We do not use advertising networks or ad-tracking cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. If you click an ad or an affiliate link, the site you land on has its own privacy policy.
Data retention
We keep your account information and content while your account is open. When you delete your account or ask us to delete your information, we delete or anonymize it, except what we must keep to meet legal, tax or accounting duties (payment records are kept without your name), resolve disputes or prevent fraud and abuse. Server logs, and the IP addresses stored with profile and ad views, are kept for 30 days and then deleted; the city and country worked out from them are kept for statistics.
Removing or reporting a profile
If you are the person on a profile, or are authorized to act for them, you can ask us to remove it: open the profile and click "Remove my profile" at the bottom of the page, or use our Contact Us form. We review every request. Once approved, the profile and the reviews and interviews about that person are hidden from public view on MyGradeLayer and from MyGradeLayer's search (other search engines may take some time to update). To report wrong information or impersonation, click "Report" on the profile.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know and access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to get a copy of it, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of any sale of your personal information. To use any of these rights, use our Contact Us form. We answer within 45 days, may need to verify your identity first, and will not treat you differently for using your rights. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.
Children
MyGradeLayer is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, use our Contact Us form and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and restricted access to our systems. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
